The Guardian ad Litem Foundation (GALF) is dedicated to helping abused, neglected and abandoned children through support of the Guardian ad Litem Office and through GALF programming and initiatives that benefit children directly in various ways:

RECRUITMENT AND TRAINING OF GUARDIAN VOLUNTEERS

So more child abuse victims can be represented in court.

NORMALCY PROGRAMMING

Providing basic necessities to youth so that they can assimilate and thrive.

THE EMPOWERMENT SCHOLARSHIP

Empowering youth seeking to rise above their circumstances by furthering their post-secondary education.

GALF has been serving the vulnerable youth in the Duval, Clay and Nassau counties since 1991. Our mission is dedicated to helping abused, neglected or abandoned children who have been removed from their home as they navigate the dependency system. We do that through support of the Guardian ad Litem Office who provides GAL Volunteers and through necessary GALF programming and initiatives.

Guardian ad Litem Volunteers are court-appointed special advocates for children removed from their home for abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Their job is to serve as the voice of the child — a voice that is separate from the child’s family members, foster care providers, attorneys or social workers. The Guardian ad Litem Foundation provides the necessary support for these Guardian ad Litem Volunteers to perform their duties on behalf of the child. This role is vital to optimal outcomes for children in the foster care and dependency system.

On a daily average, there are roughly 1,200 children assigned to the Guardian ad Litem Office in our local community. While these stats are alarming, GALF and the Guardian ad Litem Office are making a significant difference in the lives of these children. Children with a Guardian ad Litem are half as likely to re-enter foster care; less likely to spend time in long-term foster care; more likely to be adopted by a loving family; more likely to have a plan for permanency; and more likely to perform well in school.

When you donate to GALF, you are helping Change a Child's Story for the better.
